Terms of Use & Privacy
Last updated: June 2026 · AIME, LLC
Plain-English Overview
Short version: aime runs entirely on your device. We don't have access to your conversations, your data, or your files. We can't see what you ask it or what it tells you — it never leaves your machine. These terms exist so you understand what aime is, what it isn't, and how to use it responsibly.
- Your data stays on your device — always. aime does not send your conversations to any server we operate.
- AI outputs are not professional advice — aime is a personal productivity tool, not a licensed advisor. Don't rely on it alone for legal, medical, financial, or safety decisions.
- You own your content — everything you create with aime belongs to you.
- aime is a tool, not a service — you control when it runs, what it accesses, and how long you keep it.
Terms of Use
1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using aime software ("the Software"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Software.
2. What aime is
aime is a personal AI assistant that runs locally on your own hardware. It uses AI language models — either downloaded to your machine or optionally accessed via third-party APIs you configure — to help you with tasks, goals, and questions.
aime is built on open-source components. The core application is released under the GNU General Public License v3. Source code is available on request.
3. Permitted uses
You may use aime for:
- Personal productivity, research, writing, planning, and learning
- Business tasks including drafting, summarizing, scheduling, and organizing
- Consulting and professional services — you may use aime to assist clients
- Running aime as a service for others, subject to the Consulting Terms below
4. Prohibited uses
You may not use aime to:
- Generate content that is illegal, defamatory, or infringes on third-party rights
- Deceive, defraud, or harm other people
- Create malware, spam, or automated disinformation
- Violate the terms of any third-party AI provider you configure (e.g. Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google)
5. AI outputs — no warranty
AI language models make mistakes. aime's outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. Do not rely solely on aime for medical, legal, financial, psychological, or safety decisions. Always verify important information from authoritative sources.
AIME, LLC provides the Software "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, AIME, LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Software, including (without limitation) reliance on AI-generated outputs.
7. Third-party AI APIs
aime can optionally connect to third-party AI APIs (such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google) that you configure with your own API keys. When you use these integrations, your prompts are sent to those providers and subject to their terms of service and privacy policies. We do not control or have access to what is sent.
8. Updates and changes
We may update the Software and these Terms over time. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
Privacy Policy
The short version: aime is a local application. We don't have servers that receive your conversations. We don't collect personal data. We can't see what you ask aime or what it tells you.
What we collect
Nothing you say to aime. Your conversations, files, notes, and AI responses live only on your device. AIME, LLC has no access to them.
What might leave your device
- Third-party API calls you initiate — if you configure an API key (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, etc.) and use it, your prompts go to that provider directly. Read their privacy policies.
- Model downloads — when you install an AI model from aime's Settings page, the download comes from public model repositories (such as the Ollama library). They may log the request.
- Support emails — if you email us at support@aime.fyi, we receive your message. We use it only to help you and don't sell it.
Cookies and tracking
The aime desktop application does not use cookies. This website (aime.fyi) uses no third-party trackers or analytics.
Children
aime is not directed at children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use aime.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how data is handled in a meaningful way, we'll update this page and note the date. We'll never introduce cloud data collection without a prominent notice.
Consulting & Reseller Terms
You are explicitly permitted to use aime in consulting and professional services contexts. This section explains your rights and responsibilities when you do.
What you can do
- Use aime to help your clients — run aime on behalf of clients to complete tasks, draft documents, research topics, plan projects, and more.
- Set up aime for clients — install and configure aime on a client's machine or network so they can use it themselves.
- Offer aime-powered services — build a consulting or service offering that uses aime as a tool in your workflow.
- Charge for your work — you may charge clients for the time, expertise, and value you provide. You are not paying royalties to us for this.
What you must do
- Be transparent about AI — let your clients know that AI assistance is part of your workflow when it is. Don't pass off AI-generated content as entirely human-created without disclosure.
- Don't over-promise — AI outputs can be wrong. Don't guarantee accuracy of AI-generated advice to clients in ways that expose you or them to harm.
- Comply with applicable law — if you're providing services that touch on regulated areas (law, medicine, finance, therapy), make sure you're operating within the limits of your license and jurisdiction.
- If you distribute the software — because aime's core is GPL v3 licensed, if you distribute copies of the software (not just provide a service), you must provide access to the source code. Contact us if you have questions about this.
Your liability, not ours
When you use aime in client work, you are responsible for the quality and accuracy of the deliverables you provide. AIME, LLC is not party to your client relationships and is not liable for outcomes arising from your consulting use of the Software.
